SAFE Program

SAFE Program

The SAFE (Stuffed Animals For Emergencies) program was designed to collect new or gently used stuffed animals, toys, books and blankets to be redistributed to emergency organizations to help children during times of crisis.

Volunteers are needed to:
Donate new or gently used stuffed animals, children's books, baby/children's blankets, & children's clothing.

The Make a Wish Foundation seeks to grant wishes of children who have been diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition in the United States and its territories.

Volunteers are needed to:

Volunteers are needed to:
-Volunteer at the hospital
-Volunteer for a fundraising event like the KSL Telethon/Radiothon, Pennies by the Inch, or Festival of Trees
or by
-Donating items to the hospital

In order to volunteer at Primary Children's Medical center or any of Intermountain's hospitals, please click HERE to review volunteer needs and positions.

Volunteers must meet the following requirements:
-At least 16 years old.
-Willing to make a 6-month commitment
-Commit to at least one 3-hour shift per week
-Pass a drug test, background check, be current on immunizations and have a flu shot.

If you would like to donate items to the hospital, please review the list HERE.  There are many items that you can make/assemble (even with small children) that are inexpensive but needed!  There is also an extensive list of items that can be purchased and donated.


Humane Society of Utah

Volunteers are needed to:

-Walk dogs
-Groom dogs
-Groom cats
-Socialize with cats
-Socialize with bunnies and small mammals
-Help customers find the right pet

Ages13-15 can volunteer with an adult.  Volunteers are asked to commit 10 hours of service per month for 6 months.

Adopt a U.S. Soldier

Volunteers are needed to:

-Write letters of support and/or send packages to soldiers for the duration of their deployment.

-Shelve, organize, clean & shop
-Assemble sack lunches for Title 1 schools in the area (Thursday Nights--Particularly good for families with small children!)
-Have a food drive for sack lunch items
-Donate winter clothing items:  hats, gloves, coats, blankets (quilts or fleece).  All need to be gently used or new. Other items on their wish list can be found by clicking HERE
-Cash donations are also accepted. (Tax-deductible)

-At the the Diabetes Expo on Saturday, March 1, 2014 which runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Volunteers are asked to stay for a minimum of 4 hours.) Service will be needed in all areas of the event:  Registration, Admission, Translation (Spanish), Bookstore, Stage Assistant, Information Booth, Volunteer Check-in and Greeting.

Volunteers will receive lunch and an event t-shirts.

Minimum age is 18 unless accompanied by a volunteering adult.

-Visit new parents in our community.  Volunteers deliver a free gift donated by the community, a "Keeping Your Baby Healthy" guide and additional community information.

A 6 month commitment is asked of volunteers.  Volunteers are also asked to attend one training per quarter.  Candidates should have experience working with children--mothers, grandmothers & couples. Students who have education in a related field are also considered.
